Chocolate Crinkles

This is our favorite cookie from childhood. They are definitely the "best" cookie we've ever tasted! You will not be disappointed. It takes awhile to make, but it is worth it.

4 squares unsweetened chocolate
4 eggs
1/2 cup butter
2 cups sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
2 cups sifted flour
1/2 tsp salt
confectioner's sugar

Melt chocolate, butter, and sugar in pot. Put in bowl and beat until cooler. Add 4 eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Set aside. Sift together and add to mixture: baking powder, flour, and salt. Mix well and chill for several hours. When chilled, roll dough into small balls about 1" each. Then roll each ball in powdered sugar. Put on greased baking sheet and bake at 375 for 10 minutes. While a batch is cooking, put the remaining dough in the fridge until you are ready to roll more balls or the dough will get sticky and it will be difficult to handle the dough. Makes 4-5 dozen.
